Cycling Road Race – 31/3/19

We have been given advance warning of the Capernwray Road Race due to take place on Sunday 31 March, which will mainly affect Borwick residents. The cyclists will convene and depart for the start from the Memorial Hall car park between the hours of 9am and 4pm, so there will be activity in the area for most of the day. The organisers have undertaken to complete the post-race clean-up by 7pm. The race route and other information is attached.

We have been told: “The event is taking place on 31 March. Unlike previous years, we are running two separate races this year (rather than both concurrently) to help alleviate parking and safety concerns. None-the-less, we would like to give villagers in Priest Hutton, Borwick and Capernwray fair warning that the event is coming… The races will be departing (neutralised, so not racing) from the village hall but will only start racing once they are out of Borwick and away down to Capernwray. The course itself is attached along with the flyers we are going to try and distribute over the coming days.”

“Stan and Ollie” movie comes to the Memorial Hall on 12/4/19 at 7.30 pm

“Stan and Ollie”, one of 2018’s best movies, is showing at the Memorial Hall on Friday 12th April 7.30pm. Featuring Steve Coogan as Stan Laurel, and John C. Reilly as Oliver Hardy, it follows the duo on their last ever tour of the music halls of the UK, recreating some of their best comedy routines, and exploring their ongoing relationship at the end of their careers. A truly great movie even if you don’t like Laurel and Hardy (according to Mrs Webmaster). Adults £4, children £1.
