29th May 2019
The principle garden visit of the summer includes an extended stopover at Northallerton en-route to Mount Grace Priory at the foot of the Cleveland Hills in North Yorkshire. The best preserved Carthusian priory in England, the Arts and Crafts manor house, and the gardens, recently renovated under the direction of Chris Beardshaw are all available to visitors. Travel by coach at a cost of £18/person from and to the village hall, pay entry of £8:60 on site (2018 price guide; concessions apply; NT and EH members free) and lose yourself in the quiet splendour of this 14th century gem.
This visit is not exclusive to garden club members; it’s available to people of all shapes and sizes. If you are interested in coming along, Diane Sunderland will be happy to assist – 01524 782111.
20th June 2019
An evening visit to ever popular Lower Rowell Farm has been arranged for 6:30pm on 20th June. This is a return visit two years after the previous visit fell foul of the weather. Members and visitors will make their own travel plans to the site between Crooklands and Millnthorpe (LA7 7LU) for a soft guided tour of these extensive gardens laid out in 1¼ acres around the farm house. They should be rich in summer colours. Tea and biscuits will be available. National Garden Scheme charity donation of £6:00, payable on the night, applies. Visitors welcome; as always.
St Mary’s Church are holding their annual Lent Lunch this Saturday at 12 noon in the Memorial Hall.
There is no charge, but a donation to charity would be appreciated.
All are welcome, whether you attend church or not, and this is a great opportunity to get together with other villagers.
