Carol Service at St Mary’s on Sunday cancelled
A message from the Reverend Robin Figg.
It is with great sadness that we have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Carol Services at St Mary’s, Borwick on Sunday 19th and at St Oswald’s, Warton on Tuesday 21st and the Crib Service at St John’s, Yealand on Friday 24th. This is due to the current Covid situation with the increasing concerns about the spread of the omicron variant. We have not made this decision lightly. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and understand that it will be disappointing news for many.
Our Choir Director, Steph Burford, and our choir have worked immensely hard to prepare for the Carol Services and I am sure you will join me in thanking them for their hard work. It is our hope to record their pieces and prepare an online Carol Service as we did last year. The Crib Service will also be online. Both online services will be streamed on our Benefice YouTube channel; the links will be shared in the coming days. We hope these online services will enable you to connect with the local Church as we celebrate Christmas.
The health of our community remains our priority and we therefore feel the very difficult decision to cancel these in-person services is the most appropriate option at this time.
The Midnight Eucharist at St Oswald’s and the Christmas Day Eucharists at St Mary’s and St Oswald’s will still take place in-person.
